Biyi Bandele’s film adapatation of Chimamanda Adichie’s novel, Half of a Yellow Sun, will be the opening night gala film of the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival. The festival opens on September 17 and runs through October 1. The world premiere of the Half of a Yellow Sun will take place at the Toronto International Film Festival, which comes up in September. Half of a Yellow Sun will also open the Africa International Film Festival, which will take place in Calabar (Nigeria) in November.
Contrary to previous speculations, a newly released trailer of the movie, shows that star actress, Genevieve Nnaji, appears in the movie. The movie stars Thandie Newton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Anika Noni Rose. Also in the movie are John Boyega, Joseph Mawle, Onyeka Onwenu, Zack Orji, Tina Mba, OC Ukeje, Wale Ojo, and Hakeem Kae-Kazim.
