The 8th edition of the reality TV Show, The Next Movie Star, was on Monday (October 29) unveiled to members of the media at Troy Lounge in Ogba, Lagos. The event was attended by members of the press and industry stakeholders. The show begins airing on November 3, and it will be on NTA Network and other stations.

There will be 16 contestants on the show this year. The 16 contestants will be housed for 30 days in a custom-built house, where they will be put through various tasks. The tasks will test their acting skills and other abilities.

Starting from the second week, 2 contestants will be evicted every week until there are only eight left. Evictions will be determined by a combination of votes from viewers, and a panel of judges. The winner and two runners-up will be selected from among the 8 finalists. The winner will go home with a brand new SUV, cash prize, 3 movie contracts, home appliances and other exciting prizes.

The show has been discovering acting talent for the African film industry since 2005. Some notable alumni of the show include Tonto Dikeh, Uti Nwachukwu, Lydia Forson, Annie Macaulay Idibia, and Moyo Lawal.
