Lions of 76 is a movie directed by Izu Ojukwu. Principal photography for Lions of 76 was concluded in July, and it is currently in post-production. It features Ramsey Nouah, Chidi Mokeme, Rita Dominic, Ibinabo Fiberisima, Memry Savanhu, Adonijah Owiriwa, Daniel K Daniel, Nelly Ekwereogu, and Shuaibu Ebenehi Adams.
Lions of 76 is one of the most significant movies to have been shot in 2012 – especially given the antecedents of its director, Izu Ojukwu. Izu Ojukwu is one of the most able and dedicated film directors presently working in Nigeria. In 2007, he won the AMAA award for Best Director, for his movie Sitanda. He has handled the Amstel Malta Box Office movies, some of which are White Waters, Cindy’s Note, The Child, and Alero’s Symphony. Some of his other movies are La Viva, Across The Niger, and Distance Between.
Lions of 76 was shot entirely on celluloid, and it deals with events surrounding the military coup, which took place in Nigeria, in 1976. The movie explores the experience of women married to military officers. The log line of the movie is – His War … Her Battle.
