The 8th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) was held on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Eko Hotels and Suites, in Lagos. Star actress, Rita Dominic won the prestigious AMAA award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, while Ghanaian star Majid Michel won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The film, Adesuwa by Lancelot Imasuen won 3 awards, including Best Nigerian Film, while South African film, How to Steal 2 Million won 4 awards, including Best Film.
