Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Majid Michel were two of the big winners at the Screen Nation awards, which took place in London last night (October 16) at indigO2. Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde emerged as the Favourite West African Actress, seeing off the challenge of a strong field of contenders.The other actresses who were nominated in the category are Ama K Abebrese, Funke Akindele, Genevieve Nnaji, Jackie Appiah, and Mercy Johnson. Majid Michel bested Hakeem Kae Kazim, John Dumelo, Mike Ezuruonye, Osita Iheme, and Ramsey Nouah to emerge as Favourite West African Actor.The award for Favourite West African Film went to The Mirror Boy, which saw off the challenge of Ije, Inale, Perfect Picture, Sinking Sands, and The Figurine. Owing to the growing interest in West African film, the organizers will hold the Screen Nation Africa Awards in Nigeria, in 2012. The Screen Nation Awards celebrates leading professionals of African heritage in the UK, and overseas.
